As a consumer, food safety, affordability, and quality are important.
Purchasing direct to farmers can help improve quality as well as create a connection to the food produced. Additionally, money stays within the community. The USDA estimates that a farmer receives about 20 cents of every dollar spent on food (USDA-NASS, 2008).
