Farmers Union believes that rural residents have as much right as their urban counterparts to accessible, high quality health care. With the loss of rural population have come closings of county and small community hospitals and clinics and a shortage of trained health care professionals. These trends have resulted in the health care shortage that many rural residents face today, along with the lack of adequate health insurance for farmers.
Iowa Farmers Union works with a coalition of groups including the Iowa Citizen Action Network to lobby legislators and Congress on this issue. We will continue to work for improved health care, and welcome your help in these efforts. Contact your legislators and Congressional representatives!
