You're invited to bring a sharable dish and join us at Iowa Farmers Union's annual Potluck Barn Party on Saturday, July 20, from 4:30 to 7 pm at The Big Oak Barn in Elkhart!

There will be live music by Steve Hurst and Joanne Olson, games, a potluck dinner, a silent auction, and a line-up of great guests.

Here's who you'll hear from:

Laura Belin, primary author of Bleeding Heartland, and Robert Leonard, author of Deep Midwest, join us to remark on the current state of the Iowa political landscape and its impact on rural communities.

Lanon Baccam will speak about his Congressional campaign for Iowa's 3rd District and his hopes for improvements to the state's economy that will be reflected in the cost of gas and groceries, as well as how he plans to fight for small towns and rural communities.

You'll hear from IFU members Karen VarleyTony Thompson, and Tommy Hexter, all running for local office. They will touch on their campaigns, their desires for rural revitalization, and how you can rally in support.

Other things to know: the barn is air-conditioned, so summer heat or rain won't be a problem. We encourage you to bring friends and family! This event is a fun way to bring new folks into the Farmers Union community!
