In partnership with Wisconsin Farmers Union, IFU offers summer youth camps at Kamp Kenwood, on Lake Wissota near Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin. In addition to summer youth camps, IFU hosts a series of youth day classes during the school year on topics such as cooperatives, family farming, local food systems, renewable energy, environmental stewardship and community leadership.

 

FinalCooperativesCollege Conference on Cooperatives

Each February, the National Farmers Union Foundation and the CHS Foundation co-host the College Conference on Cooperatives (CCOC) in Minneapolis. The CCOC features educational workshops led by cooperative leaders, farmers and policy makers on the challenges and opportunities of cooperatives business. Participants have the opportunity to tour CHS headquarters, as well as housing, retail and marketing cooperatives in Minneapolis-St. Paul. Participation in the CCOC is by invitation only, with each state allotted a certain number of spots for participants. Students enrolled in Iowa universities or colleges who are interested in participating in an upcoming CCOC should contact the IFU state office. More detailed information about the next annual CCOC will be available starting in December.

 

FinalHandshakeNFU Internship Program

The NFU internship program allows students enrolled in a university or graduate program to have a real world working experience in the D.C. office of National Farmers Union. Internships generally last 2 months and can be tailored to focus on the intern’s primary area of interest: communications, cooperative development, economics, education, membership marketing, policy research or political science. Applications are accepted on an on-going basis for the spring, summer and fall semesters. For more information or to download an application, visit the NFU website. FinalLightbulbAll-States Leadership Camp

The annual All-States Leadership Camp hosted by NFU offers a unique leadership development opportunity for students age 17 to 20 who previously have been active participants in Farmers Union youth activities in their states, including youth camps and youth day classes. This week-long camp takes place in the beautiful mountain setting of the NFU Education Center at Bailey, Colorado and features inspirational speakers, educational workshops and leadership development opportunities. Participants in the camp also elect the NFU National Youth Advisory Council for the coming year.
