Farmers Union Announces Conservation Position Opening

The Iowa Farmers Union is excited to announce that the Farmers Union is seeking applicants for a Resource Stewardship Outreach Specialist.

The Outreach Specialist will promote increased and more effective adoption of conservation practices among Iowa producers by introducing them to the Natural Resource Conservation Service (NRCS) Resource Stewardship Evaluation framework and the Resource Stewardship Evaluation Tool (RSET). RSET is a new tool and service that strengthens and modernizes conservation planning and helps farmers, ranchers and forest landowners better identify their conservation goals and improve their outcomes.
“The collaborative project between National Farmers Union Foundation, the Iowa Farmers Union, and NRCS is an innovative approach to conservation planning,” said IFU President Aaron Lehman.  “In the future, Iowa farmers will be asked to assume an expanded role in improving Iowa landscapes and waters. This farmer friendly hands-on tool will move us toward that goal while enhancing profitability and sustainability in the long run.”
“We are anxious to hear from interested job candidates wanting to make a real impact on farm conservation in Iowa.”
