Lunch & Learn: International Trade and Food Sovereignty with Patti Naylor
Patti will talk about her participation in a mobilization organized by the global movement La Via Campesina in Geneva, Switzerland calling for international trade to be based on human rights and food sovereignty. As in similar actions beginning in 1999, farmers from all regions of the world came to Geneva to continue the demand that countries reject rules by the World Trade Organization and end Free Trade Agreements in agriculture.
Patti farms with her husband George near Churdan, growing organic cider apples, oats, corn, and soybeans. She is on the boards of Pesticide Action Network and Family Farm Defenders. Patti is also a member of National Family Farm Coalition and La Via Campesina. She is currently the Coordination Committee member for the North America region of the Civil Society and Indigenous People’s Mechanism with the United Nations Committee on World Food Security. Patti is also an essayist with the Disparity to Parity Project.
