Iowa Farmers Union Announces Trone Garriot, Muhlbauer, and Jones Among Confirmed Candidates for Barn Party

Family farmers to hear directly from candidates on issues affecting rural Iowa

NEVADA, Iowa – The Iowa Farmers Union has confirmed that the following candidates will share remarks at the organization’s annual Barn Party on Saturday, July 25 at the Big Oak Barn in Elkhart:

Sarah Trone Garriott, Candidate for US House District 3

Dave Muhlbauer, Candidate for Iowa Lieutenant Governor

Chris Jones, Candidate for Iowa Secretary of Agriculture

Tony Thompson, Candidate for Iowa Senate District 23

The Barn Party brings together IFU members for a celebration of family farming and an opportunity to engage directly with candidates on the issues affecting rural Iowa.

“We are so excited to have these candidates talk about their priorities with our members,” said Aaron Lehman, IFU president. “Now is the right time to have these conversations. Iowa farmers are facing unprecedented economic pressure, from rising input costs to uncertain trade policies. These candidates need to talk directly with farmers about what’s at stake.”
